Mukilteo dental bridges and crowns
A simple and effective way to replace missing teeth.
Do you have broken, cracked, or missing teeth? Dental bridges and crowns can dramatically restore your smile and improve your overall quality of life.
A dental crown is an artificial cap that fits over your damaged tooth or replaces a missing tooth. It looks and feels just like a real tooth, covering all visible areas down to your gum line.
A crown is crafted from high-quality, durable materials such as porcelain, and is designed to blend in seamlessly with your natural smile.
A dental bridge is a crown that is fixed in place by using the adjacent teeth as a support, creating a “bridge” effect.

Are dental bridges and crowns right for me?
Dental bridges and crowns can address a wide range of dental issues and are an excellent option for many people.
However, there are alternatives to consider depending on:
- The extent and nature of your condition
- Your overall goals
- Your budget
For example, dental implants are another top choice to restore missing teeth.
Implants are an attractive alternative because they restore the entire tooth from root to crown, whereas dental crowns and bridges can only replace the visible part of your tooth.
While dental implants are an outstanding tooth-replacement solution, not everyone is a candidate for the procedure. They also tend to be more expensive upfront.
When you come in for a consultation with Dr. Kris Johnson, he’ll thoroughly evaluate your smile and discuss options with you. Together, we’ll find a solution that’s best for your specific needs.
What is the process for receiving a dental bridge like?
Initial Consultation: Each treatment plan starts with a thorough consultation with Dr. Kris Johnson. He’ll examine your dental concerns, listen carefully to your needs and goals, and work with you to determine the best course of action based on several factors.
Preparation: Once we’ve determined that a dental bridge is the best option, we’ll start by preparing the existing teeth. Since we use adjacent teeth to support the bridge, they’ll need to be reshaped and capped with a crown.
Impressions: We’ll then take a dental impression to produce a mold of your teeth. This impression is sent off to a professional dental lab, who will use it as a blueprint to design and build your custom bridge. While we wait for your final bridge to come back from the lab, you’ll receive a temporary crown to protect the tooth.
Bridge Placement: Finally, once your new bridge is ready, we’ll place it and do the finishing touches to create a perfectly restored tooth. You’ll leave our office with a confident, beautiful new smile!
How long will my dental bridges and crowns last?
We take pride in crafting the highest quality, durable restorations. With proper care, your dental bridge can last for decades before needing touchups or repair.
Here are a few tips to maximize the longevity of your restoration:
- Daily hygiene: Maintain a diligent at-home care routine. At a minimum, brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day.
- Flossing: In addition to flossing around the teeth, you’ll need to carefully floss under the dental bridge to prevent bacteria from accumulating. There are special tools available to make this process easier. We’ll make recommendations and give you guidance on how to do this after the restoration is complete.
- Regular checkups: Come in for check-ups and routine maintenance cleanings twice a year, as you usually would.
By following these simple habits, you’ll have a healthy, beautiful smile for years to come!
How much do dental bridges and crowns cost? Are they covered by insurance?
To give you the very best custom results, we don’t do cookie-cutter solutions. Therefore, the cost of each restoration varies. When you come in for your initial consultation, Dr. Johnson will take a close look at your needs and goals and give you a detailed estimate of the cost.
Dental crowns and bridges are covered under most insurance plans. We can help you verify coverage and discuss convenient budget-friendly payment options.
